CASTING CONVICTION

PRODUCTION DETAILS:

ABOUT THE SHOW

Conviction, a new play by Rebecca Morgan, is a fictionalised account of the events leading up to the arrest, show trial and execution of Czech politician Milada Horakova by the Communist government in June 1950. It will be presented at the space Above the Arts Theatre in Leicester Square this October (https://artstheatrewestend.co.uk/whats-on/conviction/).

CREATIVE TEAM

Conviction will be directed by Ria Samartzi (www.riasamartzi.com) with an original score by Jon Whitten (www.jonwhitten.com)

KEY PRODUCTION DATES

Auditions: 29th, 30th and 31st August

Rehearsals: 19th September - 1st October (10:00-18:00 Monday to Saturday)

Tech/Dress: 3rd October

Shows: 3rd - 8th October at 19:30 with a 15:00 Saturday matinee

FEE

Fixed Fee (TBC) + Profit Share

We are currently still fundraising for this production so we are unable to guarantee a fee. We are aiming to have that confirmed by the time we hold auditions.

Should our ACE Grant for the Arts bid is successful we will be offering a fee of £350 per week in line with Equity/UK Theatre rates for a Tier C venue.

CASTING BREAKDOWN:

Milada (Female)

40 - 50 years

Lawyer, human rights activist, politician and mother.

All ethnicities and accents considered.

Jana (Female)

16 - 20 years

Milada’s daughter.

Requirement: Highly Skilled in Violin.

All ethnicities and accents considered.

Josef (Male)

35 - 50 years

Law professor and prosecutor, prominent Czech Communist Party member.

All ethnicities and accents considered.

Petr/Victor (Male)

20 - 30 years

Petr: law student and member of underground anti-communist group. Doubles up as Victor: member of the secret police.

All ethnicities and accents considered.
